The LM7912 is a three-terminal voltage regulator IC that outputs a fixed -12V, commonly paired with an LM7812 to build a dual-rail ±12V supply for op-amp and analog circuits. It includes internal current-limiting, safe-area protection, and thermal shutdown to guard against overload conditions, and its low ground-pin current allows the output to be boosted above the preset value with a resistor divider if needed.
